In part one of a two-part episode, homecoming week begins at McKinley. Charlotte tries to get Aaron to ask her, but he's been very busy at his church carnival, and the class's queen, Rhoda Marks (Nicole Cueto). Jared tries to ask Gretchen to the dance after she doesn't have a date, but in the end Carl asks her and he is angry after she accepts him, knowing that Jared was going to ask her. Colby is mad at Lily when she gets him a job at the family pumpkin patch, and then tells him that she's going to be busy the night of the dance. Coulier tells Sarah that he'll make plans, which gets Sarah mad and she says she might have to practice that night. Brody and Gaby decide they're going to avoid the dance together; Billy struggles with his side concerts, and his work. Also, Anna tries to get the class's king, to look at her, but in the end she decides to give it a rest.
