Volcano Stories - Season 1 Episode 2 Bromo - The Sacred Volcano of Java
In Indonesia, the local inhabitants worship the Bromo Volcano. Every year, during the full moon, a procession with torchlights makes its way towards the smoking crater. It is the Kesodo celebration.
In the middle of a gigantic sea of volcanic dust, thousands of pilgrims make offerings to the crater which is considered as an incarnation of a Hindu god. Fruits, vegetables, chickens ... women and men give back to the volcano some of what it gave them. They pray for the volcano to grant them life rather than death.
