In the Shadows
Director Xam Keodongdy follows a shadow puppet show troop in Laos, shedding light on a disappearing tradition. The members of the troop give a touching account of their passion, which barely earns them a living, and of their fears that the youth will not keep the tradition going. “In the Shadows” offers beautiful images of the moving puppets, and gives a glimpse into the art of shadow puppeteering, that combines craftsmanship, musicality, and acting.
