Athar Abbas
Athar Abbas (born 22 September 1986) is a Pakistani filmmaker and director based in Pakistan. He has worked with artists including Abida Parveen, Salim-Sulaiman, Sami Yusuf, Ali Haider, Falak Shabir, and Sahara UK. His projects have been noted by platforms such as DAWN, DW, Discover Pakistan, PurAzm Awards, and YDS.
Abbas developed an interest in film and photography at an early age. He completed an MBA in Marketing from Preston University before beginning his career in filmmaking. His directorial debut was the music video Mast Nazro Se by Omer Inayat. Together with his brother Bilal Abbas, he co-founded Athar-Bilal Films, through which they have produced and directed music videos, short films, commercials, and documentaries. In addition to his work in film and advertising, Abbas has produced the Instagram series Untold Pakistan, which documents cultural traditions, individual stories, and local histories from across the country. Praised for its heartfelt narration and cinematic style, the series has made Athar a distinctive voice in Pakistan's growing digital media space.
