Ngiam is a Taiwanese-born composer, musician, and conductor specializing in game music, film scoring, contemporary composition, and performance. Since releasing his first album in 2017, he has collaborated with independent game developers and filmmakers across multiple projects. Originally self-taught, his early musical experience includes choir assemblies, violin and harmonica lessons, and a brief study of festive drums before turning to the piano in 2016, laying the foundation for a multidisciplinary approach grounded in independent study and artistic curiosity. He composes original scores for independent and student films, developing works that support storytelling through atmosphere and emotion. Ngiam’s portfolio also includes original soundtracks for independent games, one of which placed first at a 2023 game jam. Through regular participation in game jams, he works under demanding time constraints, developing a flexible and responsive workflow. Beyond music, Ngiam extends his creative practice into game design, filmmaking, and visual art, contributing to the direction and production of select projects. His works are often narrative-driven and occasionally incorporate elements of minimalism and surreal abstraction, exploring atmosphere, symbolism, and emotional resonances. Through his craft, Ngiam hopes to create pieces that carry emotional depth and leave lasting memories. Outside of his artistic pursuits, he studies etymology and tends to flowers that inspire him.
